—BRAVO’S MODEL OF THE WEEK—
Name: A’Maiya Sinclair Allen
Hometown: Bolingbrook, IL
How were you discovered?
I won an IL State Pageant Photo Shoot Competition and received a free Test Shoot with photographer, George Papadakis. I had so much fun - he was absolutely amazing to work with!
What were you doing prior to modeling?
I’m an 8th Grade Student who enjoys cheering, running cross country, and playing the clarinet and saxophone. Oh yeah, how could I forget – PAGEANTS!
People would be surprised to know?
People would be surprised to know that I collect key chains. I have over 100 key chains from all over the US and even from several different countries! People would also be surprised to know that I have 4 manikin heads with human hair and I spend HOURS AFTER HOURS doing their hair (shampooing, blow drying, flat-ironing, curling) – so much that ALL FOUR are practically BALD! I’ve already started hinting to my parents – hopefully I’ll find a new one under the Christmas tree this year because I have a lot of new styles that I just can’t wait to try out!
What is your latest obsession?
As a teenager, that changes pretty often, but my latest obsession is buying unique cell phone cases. I’m always looking for bargains – and have been pretty lucky with finding some really cool cases at a cheap price. I have about 15 thanks to my great deals on eBay and Amazon. I think every girl needs a cell phone case to match her super cute outfit!
What is your most prize possession?
I would have to say my most prize possession is my iphone that has a lot of cool aps! And since I loaded the new IOS7 updates, I’m even more attached to it. Don’t worry – my parents have time limits and guidelines so I won’t get too over-obsessed!
Growing up, who did you look up to as your hero?
As a kid, I grew up watching the sitcom “That’s So Raven”, starring Raven Symone (she was also “Rudy” on “The Cosby Show”). I thought she was sooo funny and I liked the fact that she would always got in trouble but somehow come up with a way to get out of it. She had a sense of style, she was sassy, and was also very caring and but funny all at the same time!
When was the last time you said “I Love You” to someone?
The last time I said “I LOVE YOU” was when I said goodnight to my parents last night before going to bed.
List 3 adjectives that best describe you?
Considerate, Playful and Creative
Describe your personal style…
I like to keep it simple so I would say jeans and a cute t-shirt (with bling of course)! But when I’m in PAGEANT MODE – I like to rock the stage in a cute little Sherrie Hill party dress or a MacDuggal or Terani evening gown and a pair of Jonathan Kane shoes!
Your favorite place you have traveled to?
My favorite city is Los Angeles, CA, and especially and the cool places in Hollywood, CA. My favorite place is visiting all of the HARD ROCK CAFÉ’s! Sofar I’ve visited the ones in Washington DC, New York, Dallas, and Chicago!
Your favorite film?
Soul Surfer AnnaSophia from the sitcom Josh & Drake. This was an amazing movie and true story about Bethany Hamilton who was 13 years old when she was attached by a shark while surfing in Hawaii. I was inspired by her faith, determination and positive attitude that helped her to keep reaching her goal of becoming a professional surfer. Her story helps me realize that ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE if I work hard and believe!
Your favorite sport or sports figure?
I absolutely love and adore Gabriel Douglas, the famous 2012 All-Around Gold Medal Gymnast. She’s such an inspiration to young girls. She’s a role model to show young girls how hard work and determination pays off. I was really excited when I got a chance to actually meet her! She’s awesome – both on AND off the bars!
If there’s a destination or item you would recommend us to check out or visit about your town what would you recommend?
USA Skate Center – it’s a cool and safe place where kids my age get to hang out with our friends, listen to music, and get a little exercise in and have fun at the same time!
Your favorite song/artist?
My favorite artist is Karmin and I like pretty much any song that they sing. If I had to pick a favorite, I would have to say it’s Acapella”. I like the fact that they take covers of songs and make them waaay different from the original artist. And I especially like how the lead singer, Amy puts a different spin to ‘WRAP’!
What is your wish for 2013?
My wish is to be the best in all that I do and to always put forth my VERY BEST EFFORT!
